Security of supply, extreme weather, blackouts and climate change are just a selection of the topics that will be discussed on October 8th as part of the Vienna Energy Security Dialogue.
The event, organized by the World Energy Council Austria and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), brings together a large number of national and international experts from science, business and politics to discuss pressing questions about the energy transition.
The event is in its seventh round this year and is entitled “Energy Security In The Long Run: Managing Energy Systems With Wise Foresight”. This title is intended to make it clear that energy security is not a sprint, but a marathon and requires not only perseverance but also wise foresight.
Secure, sustainable and affordable energy is a fundamental pillar of every economy and is increasingly a decisive competitive factor, especially in the European Union. Today, every energy-intensive company is obliged to include the issue of energy security in its decision-making calculations. However, globally there are still 660 million people without access to electricity and around two billion people who have to use respiratory-damaging fuels to prepare hot food.
At the event, the experts will address these two realities and try to find answers to how the industry can remain competitive and how to provide rudimentary energy supplies in developing countries.
In addition to a panel on oil and gas supplies, renewable energies and energy efficiency, financing and insurance of the energy transition and digital solutions for energy security will be discussed. The event will take place on October 8th between 9:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. in the Haus der Industrie, Schwarzenbergplatz 4, 1040 Vienna.
