Vienna (OTS) – With the holiday on Thursday, a long weekend is just around the corner for many people. At the same time, the two-week Pentecost holidays end in Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg. The Ö3 traffic editorial team expects traffic jams again with hours of waiting in front of the construction site on the Tauern motorway.
Heading into the long weekend
As always before a holiday on Thursday, thousands of people crowd out of the cities on Wednesday evening for the long weekend. From 4 p.m. to around 8 p.m., the city exits in Vienna, Linz, Salzburg, Graz and Bregenz in particular will be overloaded. The Ö3 traffic editorial team expects the big rush for Saturday and Sunday.
Holiday return traffic on Saturday and Sunday
The two-week Whitsun holidays end this weekend in Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg. The return traffic will cause convoys and long traffic jams on the important holiday routes towards Germany.
There is a risk of traffic jams on Saturday, especially between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., and on Sunday from mid-morning until late in the evening on the following routes:
– in Tyrol on the Brenner motorway (A13) in front of the Schönberg toll booth, on the Inntal motorway (A12), between Innsbruck and the border at Kiefersfelden; on the Fernpass route (B179); on the B177 before the border near Scharnitz;
– in Salzburg on the Tauernautobahn, the Ö3 traffic editorial team is again expecting kilometer-long traffic jams and hours-long journey times in front of the tunnel construction site between Golling andwerfen
– in South Tyrol on the Brenner motorway, in front of the Vipiteno toll booth and in front of the Brenner Pass
– in Bavaria at the Great German Corner on the A8 and A93
– in Styria, on the Pyhrnautobahn (A9) in front of the construction sites near Mautern and Trieben
Departure barriers
Avoiding Salzburg along the Tauernautobahn is almost impossible. There are many exit closures for transit traffic. In Tyrol, driving bans also apply on several state roads in the districts of Innsbruck/Innsbruck Land, Kufstein, Imst and Reutte.
Erzbergrodeo
Well over 40,000 fans are expected in Styria from Thursday to Sunday for the Erzbergrodeo. The Ö3 traffic editorial team is expecting traffic jams on the B115. There are visitor parking spaces on site, but you have to buy parking tickets at the cash desk on site.
Daffodil festival in Ausseerland
From Thursday to Sunday, thousands of visitors are expected at the Daffodil Festival in Bad Aussee. On Saturday, vintage cars drive through town. Brass bands also parade through the city center. Grundlseestraße (L703) will be closed on Sunday in the Grundlsee area from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. due to the influx of boats at Grundlsee. There is a proven traffic concept. The buses park in Bad Aussee, the parking spaces for cars are at Grundlsee. Shuttle buses run free of charge to Bad Aussee city center and back again.
