The registration period for 14 referendums ended on March 18, 2024, 8 p.m. – four referendums passed the hurdle of 100,000 signatures
Vienna (OTS) – Until March 18, 2024, 8 p.m., people eligible to vote could submit entries for a total of 14 referendums in any municipality in Germany or online.
The results of the referendums mentioned are determined electronically as part of the “Central Voters Register”. The signatures for the respective referendum and the declarations of support made in the initiating process were each recorded in a separate data processing system and automatically counted up.
In accordance with Section 13 Paragraph 1 of the 2018 Referendum Act, the Federal Ministry of the Interior announces the following preliminary results (the results were published on the homepage of the Federal Ministry of the Interior on March 18, 2024 at 8:15 p.m.):
The number of people entitled to vote in all referendums mentioned was 6,334,187.
Referendum “The intensive care bed capacity expansion referendum”:

In order for a referendum to be considered in the National Council, at least 100,000 signatures are required. Based on the results available, it is obvious that this threshold was exceeded in each of the four referendums listed below:
- Don’t throw away food!
- Ban glyphosate!
- No joining NATO
- No to nuclear power greenwashing
The Federal Election Authority will announce the final results for the 14 referendums mentioned after making any corrections at its meeting in the first half of April.
