Responsible FPÖ nature conservation councilor Rosenkranz threatens expropriation

St. Pölten (OTS) –

The liberal nature conservation councilor Susanne Rosenkranz, who is responsible for implementing the renaturation ordinance, wrote in the daily newspaper The press called for the expropriation of farmers by the federal government and did not deny this even in an outburst of anger against the farmers’ association.

For the Lower Austrian Farmers’ Association around Chamber President Johannes Schmuckenschlager, this is an absolute breach of a taboo that reveals the FPÖ’s true mentality: “This will not happen with the Farmers’ Association and the ÖVP – under no circumstances and without any willingness to discuss or negotiate. For the FPÖ, the implementation of an ideologically motivated EU regulation seems to be more important than protecting the constitutionally guaranteed property rights of our farming families.”

Security of supply and property take priority over eco-romantic fantasies

The FPÖ’s initiative is also incomprehensible for the Lower Austrian Farmers’ Association because Lower Austria has already successfully implemented numerous renaturation measures in the past – always in partnership with the affected landowners, with sense and common sense, on an equal footing and, above all, without expropriation.

Farmers’ association demands its own budget pot for renaturation measures

“For us, security of supply and property are more important than eco-romantic fantasies, the added value of which is extremely limited for Austria and Lower Austria. The Farmers’ Association invented the eco-social market economy, through which numerous projects for climate, environmental, forest, animal and soil protection have already been implemented in Austria – long before others thought about it. That is why we resolutely oppose additional burdens on the Austrian population and especially on local agriculture. That’s why we need a separate budget for renaturation measures and certainly no expropriations. The benefits and additional burdens must be balanced out,” concludes Schmuckenschlager.
