As of tomorrow, the research festival for Viennese schools will continue in the town hall. The research festival, organized by the Vienna Economic Agency since 2008, brings the latest inventions of Vienna’s universities, universities of applied sciences and companies to the Viennese every two years. For a weekend, visitors can try out technology from Vienna, become inventors and see where research occurs in their own everyday life. This year the research festival recorded a record: over 13,000 visitors came to the town hall on only three days.
The two -week school program was also booked immediately. Around 600 students are registered with their classes at the Vienna Research Festival. Until April 4, there will be interactive tours for 25 classes of all school types through the highlights of the research festival. Topics of the school program are health technologies of tomorrow and sustainability. The students teach a cell phone to smell. They test new aids to make blind things easier to make their everyday life. You will also learn everything about recycling with new technologies or find out how stressed plants adapt to changed environmental conditions. They also compete with a AI. It is about counting points on salamanders in order to keep them apart and correctly assess how many salamander live in Vienna.
All year round free Tech job trials for everyone in the adventure room of the Vienna Economic Agency
For families and children there are tech workshops all year round in the adventure room of the Vienna Economic Agency on the Schmelz. On a Saturday a month, families and children can dive into the world of research free of charge and get to know Viennese inventions.
For technology -interested classes from the 3rd to the 8th school level, trial workshops also take place in the adventure room throughout the school year. For elementary school children of the 3rd and 4th grade, there is the “ideas attack” in which the students themselves become inventors. The great variety of professions in the areas of environmental protection and sustainability, medical technology and biotech or digital technologies get to know the children in the workshops for the 7th and 8th school level. You have the selection between the workshops “Green Tech”, “Future Health” and “IT & ME”.
