Report of the adult education project group handed over to Bishop Schwarz

St. Pölten (OTS) –

Since January 2024, a specially established project group with full-time and volunteer employees from various departments, from the educational centers and the Catholic Education Center has been working intensively on the development of future-oriented perspectives for adult education in the Diocese of St. Pölten. The project managers have now presented the results of this development process to the responsible diocesan bishop Alois Schwarz and the next steps have been considered.

“We have worked extensively to develop a sustainable and innovative education strategy that meets the current and future needs of our community,” says Dr. Günther Kienast as interim head of adult education in the Diocese of St. Pölten. “Our goal is to strengthen education as a foundation for lifelong learning and positive social development in connection with faith.”

The further development and change in adult education naturally also requires increased internal cohesion. “The challenges that lie ahead of us can only be overcome together,” adds Dr. Kienast added.

Bishop Alois Schwarz underlines the importance of this process: “Education is a central pillar of our society and our church. It enables personal development and social participation. I am convinced that the new perspectives for adult education in our diocese will provide a lot of positive impulses.”
