Taxes are an important building block for good coexistence and the preservation and expansion of the welfare state. In Austria, however, employees and consumers raise the majority of the tax burden; the richest contribute very little to tax revenue. This means that Austria is at the bottom of the league when it comes to wealth taxes in an international comparison. To eliminate this inequality, a new alliance has been formed – the “Alliance for a Fair Contribution of the Richest”, currently consisting of 34 organizations.
