District heating plays an important role in Austria’s heating strategy. Today, 27.6 percent of all apartments are already supplied with district heating. This corresponds to around 1.1 million households that are heated with clean district heating. By 2050, a further 500,000 district heating households could be added.
The Gas Heat Association invites you to a press trip to Upper Austria on Thursday, October 10, 2024, to visit an urban and a rural district heating provider.
In the Linz Mitte power plant park you can find out more about the diversity of generation at one location, the ongoing decarbonization of district heating generation as well as the district heating density and its further expansion in Linz. Further stops include the Hofmann Personal Stadium (FC Blau Weiß Linz), which is considered a reference project for district heating, and the Benedictine monastery in Lambach, where clerical heat is generated using the in-house biomass local heating system.
