Austria has to save. At the same time, we afford avoidable sick leave, loss of work and hospital costs. Influenza, HPV, pneumococcal, herpes zoster – there are effective vaccines against all of these and many other pathogens. New data show that every euro that is invested in vaccinations comes back many times and not only helps save, but also receives quality of life. In many vaccinations, Austria does not reach the vaccination rates recommended by the WHO, our neighboring countries often vaccinate much more consistently. Measures are urgently necessary. The Austrian Association of Vaccination Manufacturers (ÖVIH) hopes for improvements from the new government and presents a 6-point plan for how they could succeed.
