Refurbishment measures on the wild streams in the southern Mostviertel

For the renovation of the flood damage in the municipalities of Gaming, Göstling on Ybbs, Gresten-Land, Lunz am See, Opponitz, St. Anton an der Jeßnitz, St. Georgen an der Reith, Scheibbs and Ybbsitz, the state of Lower Austria and the BUND 316,200 euros. The affected municipalities will take over 306,900 euros of the total investment of 930,000 euros.

“Lower Austria hit the flood in September 2024. At the same time, investments in flood protection systems have proven their worth and prevents much greater damage. That is why we continue to invest in new flood protection measures and the repair of damage to existing systems, ”says LH deputy Stephan Pernkopf.

Due to the recurring heavy rain events in recent years, but especially due to the flood in September 2024, not only caused damage to existing built -in, but also the drain capacity in the affected areas. In order to fix this damage, comprehensive renovation measures in several communities of the southern Mostviertel are now being started. The focus is on the restoration of orderly drainage conditions and the unrestricted functionality of the existing flood protection systems.

“The renovation of damaged flood protection systems has top priority for us. These immediate measures are important in order to quickly bring the affected systems back into its original condition. So we ensure that our regions will continue to be prepared against flood events in the future and that the safety of our citizens remains guaranteed, ”said MP Anton Kasser and Anton Erber.

As part of the renovation, the bank and sole fuses are restored with hydraulic modules and smaller wildwood and layer measures are carried out. The aim is to ensure the functionality of the constructions with minimal effort through sustainable and resource -saving measures. In addition, the removal of the bricks and hazard trees in the affected water sections is also carried out.
