Am 19. April 1943 began Jewish resistance fighter: inside In the Warsaw Ghetto what as Uprising in the Warsaw Ghetto should be known. In the 82 years that have passed since then, the history of the uprising has remained a challenge for memory policy and historiography.
In several of his books, Jan T. Gross tirelessly analyzed and criticized the Polish anti -Semitism of the post -war period. As a professor at Princeton University, his books on the Jedwabne, Rzeszów, Krakow and Kielce pogroms triggered sustainable debates and significantly influenced the culture of memory in Poland. In his lecture, the memories of Jewish actors are great: analyzing inside and Polish contemporary witness: analyzing inside the uprising. In doing so, he will rely in particular on articles from the underground press as well as on memoirs and diaries of members of these two groups during and after the war.
Jan T. Gross is an emeritus professor of history at Princeton University. He is the author of numerous books on the Second World War, including “Neighbors. The Destruction of the Jewish Community in Jedwabne, Poland” (Princeton University Press) and “Fear. Anti -Semitism in Poland to Auschwitz” (Suhrkamp).
