“Vienna is and remains a difficult plaster for right -wing extremists. Despite months of and Europe -wide mobilization, the neo -fascist ‘identity movement’ was only able to gather a few hundred members and sympathizers: in Vienna,” sums up Lukas Hammer, right -wing extremist spokesman for the Greens after today’s demonstration. Parliamentary employees of the FPÖ also took part in the rally, which openly demonstrated next to neo -Nazis.
“As in recent years, the people who had traveled far were much more numerous, noisy counter -protests from the Viennese. Due to several peaceful seating blocks, the demo fell extremely slowly and with the support of the police,” says Hammer satisfied. “Vienna has proven that eternal ideologies have no place here even in a new robe!”
“The work of journalists was massively blocked by right-wing extremists. In some cases, the police did not adequately implement and enforce press freedom and did not adequately protect journalists, sometimes even blocked themselves. Likewise, they were not considered to be a clear slogan,” criticizes Hammer. “On the whole, today’s use of the police was comparatively appropriate and de -escalative,” said Lukas Hammer. “However, the question arises whether and how it was possible that German citizens were able to act as the applicant of the right -wing extremist. We will investigate this,” he announces.
