Redesign of the Gaiselberg town thoroughfare: start of construction on the last section

Investment in increased traffic safety

St. Pölten (OTS) After the completion of the first two approximately 650 meter long sections from the eastern end of the town to the community center and fire station in Gaiselberg (Zistersdorf municipality) in the previous two years, construction work for the last section to the western end of the town recently began. Due to the conditions, the roadway and the ancillary facilities along the L 16 no longer corresponded to today’s traffic standards. The excessively wide roadway sometimes causes road users to drive at excessive speeds. Furthermore, there are no organized parking spaces for stationary traffic and the sidewalks are too narrow in some areas.

The work is being carried out by the Zistersdorf road maintenance department with construction and delivery companies in the region. The total costs (of all three sections) for the road construction work including ancillary areas amount to around 1.735 million euros, of which around 0.710 million euros are borne by the state of Lower Austria and 1.025 million euros by the municipality of Zistersdorf. The final section is scheduled to be completed in October 2024. For the duration of the work, the L 16 will be closed in the construction site area with a diversion. Residents can drive to and from their properties at any time.
