Red list is a memorial for red-pink failure when protecting the old town of Vienna
Vienna (OTS) –

“The fact that Vienna continues to be on the red list of the endangered World Heritage Site is an alarming sign of the total failure of the red-pink city government in questions of monument protection and urban development,” said the club chairman of the Vienna FPÖ, Maximilian Krauss, and the district party chairman of Landstrasse, LABG. Michael Stumpf, in view of the current UNESCO report.

“The historic downtown Vienna is not just any district, but a world -famous jewel that attracts tourists from all over the world and means identity and quality of life for our city. The fact that the city government is lightly jeopardizing this inheritance is not acceptable,” criticize Krauss and Stumpf. In particular, the controversial high -rise project on Heumarkt is a symbol for decades of building policy, which is more based on the interests of investors than on those of the city dwellers.

“Even under red-green, the building-specific door was opened, today Rot-Pink continues this ruthless line. The character of the old town is not being destroyed in one fell swoop-but sliced, with every further questionable major project,” said Stumpf.

The FPÖ Vienna therefore calls for a concrete action plan of the city government how Vienna can be quickly removed from the Red List of UNESCO. “It is not enough to duck away and play for time. Mayor Ludwig must finally take responsibility and give a clear commitment to protect the old town in Vienna – with deeds, not only with words,” Krauss concludes. (Ending)
