Red Cross gives humanity prize for outstanding humanitarian commitment

This year’s award winners: inside are:

• Nina Horaczek, Chief Reporter Falter: The studied political scientist has been dealing with the topics of right -wing extremism, asylum, migration and welfare state for many years. Her research on inclusion, asylum policy and on human rights issues were repeatedly recognized with specialist prices and public recognition. With her commitment, her clear language and her well -founded research, the journalist and author contributes significantly to the political education and social debate in German -speaking countries.
• Christian Jänsch, Editor ORF Time in the picture (Chronicle): The Styrian native has been working at ORF since 1994, in the chronicle editorial team of time in the picture since 2010. Jänsch reports about the work of the Red Cross above average often with a lot of personal commitment in the highest range of news. The main topics are humanitarian aid, humanitarian international law, voluntary work, health, care, environment.
• Alexander kmsfrom 2025 permanent representatives of Austria at the United Nations in Geneva, as well as currently Head of Disarmament, arms control and non -distribution in the Austrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The lawyer is one of the architects of the contract about the ban on nuclear weapons, which builds up on a Austrian disarmament initiative, which is formally supported on a 138 states. For 25 years he has been involved in numerous international processes to advance or strengthen humanitarian-human law regulations for particularly problematic arms, such as anti-personnel mines, scattering ammunition and autonomous weapon systems.
• Hansaplast: For 12 years, the paving manufacturer has been a partner of the Austrian Red Cross, especially under the motto “Together for first aid” for first aid training at schools and the creation of learning material for first aid and psychological first aid. Numerous joint projects such as the #JETTERSSTALFILF CAMPAGE underline a partnership at eye level.

With the Humanity Prize of the Heinrich Treichl Foundation, the Red Cross has been honored since 1993 and since 2018 also companies for their outstanding humanitarian commitment. The namesake is the well-known banker and former Red Cross President Heinrich Treichl, whose honor the foundation was founded by the Red Cross. The previous winners include Ute Bock, Christoph Badelt, Gregor Seberg and Alexandra Föderl-Schmid.
