A sheep farm in North Rhine-Westphalia produces the first textile from the wool of gay rams, making a bold fashion statement for the LGBTQIA+ community.
Today brings Rainbow Wool launched the world’s first collection made from the wool of gay rams. The proceeds go to the LSVD+ – Queer Diversity Association.
Homosexuality is still considered a crime in 62 countries. Rainbow Wool therefore finances projects that support queer people in the fight for equality.
The yarn for Rainbow Wool comes from over 20 gay sheep from the Stücke sheep farm in Löhne, North Rhine-Westphalia. Shepherd Michael Stücke is a member of the Gay Farmers Association and enables gay bucks, which have no “value” in industrial breeding and are therefore usually killed, to live on his farm. Here they now continuously supply high-quality wool for them Rainbow Wool Statement-Looks.
Tokio Hotel singer Bill Kaulitz: The star in the sheepfold
First fan: Bill Kaulitz (35) is committed to the project and created the haute couture look with designers Danny Reinke and Kilian Kerner Rainbow Wool co-designed. In addition, a unique fashion collection was created, consisting of statement pieces such as shoelaces, patches and caps. It will be available from September 13th on rainbow-wool.de.
Bill and the sponsored sheep
Schäfer Stück also offers sheep sponsorships: “I can do more with the additional income Rainbow Wool and thus support even more initiatives that enable queer people to live an equal life.” And at the same time, other gay guys are saved.
Bill Kaulitz is already there. His sponsored sheep are called Karl and Wolli.
