Jakob Dunkl, Gerd Erhartt and Peter Sapp from the Austrian architectural firm querkraft will be visiting professors at the Faculty of Architecture at the CTU, Prague, from the winter semester 2024/25.

At the center of the Design studios at the Technical University of Prague stands by transverse force the unfinished Lamarr department store in, designed by OMA / Rem Koolhaas this winter semester. It is awaiting completion after the investor’s bankruptcy, which requires a transformation of the original design idea. The challenge for the students will be to breathe new life into the building as a hybrid facility for living, working and leisure with cultural use.
On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the death of the Prague and Viennese writer Franz Kafka, a Kafka museum will also be housed in the building. The metamorphosis – Kafka’s most famous work – therefore becomes the central theme of the semester project for the Czech students under the direction of the Viennese architects from querkraft.
