Product recall: Steirerkraft 1-minute polenta white, 600g

The manufacturer Estyria Naturprodukte GmbH is recalling the product as a precautionary measure “Steirerkraft the Styrian 1-minute polenta white, 600g”exclusively with the batch number 23007428/0 with the best before date of December 12, 2024. Tropane alkaloids were detected in a sample of Styrian 1-minute white polenta. Consumption may cause temporary symptoms such as nausea, dizziness and headaches. Since a health risk cannot be ruled out, customers should definitely pay attention to the recall and not consume the affected product.

For reasons of preventive consumer protection, immediate action was taken and the affected product was removed “Steirerkraft the Styrian 1-minute polenta white, 600g”, exclusively with the batch number 23007428/0 with the best-before date of December 12, 2024 from the manufacturer Estyria Naturprodukte GmbH withdrawn from sale. The product should be destroyed or can be returned. The purchase price will of course be refunded, even without presentation of the receipt. Only the product is affected by the recall “Steirerkraft the Styrian 1-minute polenta white, 600g”, exclusively with the batch number 23007428/0 with the best before date December 12, 2024 of the manufacturer Estyria Naturprodukte GmbH. Other items from the supplier are not affected by the public recall. The company deeply regrets the incident and apologizes to all customers for the inconvenience caused. This warning does not indicate that the hazard was caused by Estyria Naturprodukte GmbH.

Background: Tropane alkaloids are natural ingredients in some plants that grow sporadically on grain-growing areas as so-called weeds. They serve these plants to defend themselves against predators. When grain is harvested, components of these plants can be captured and end up in food.

Tropane alkaloids have no long-term effects, but they can cause temporary health problems.
