The project
Sturgeons are the most endangered animal family in the world. With the LIFE -BOAT4STURGEON project, international project partners are pursuing the goal of keeping the remaining four disturbance in the Danube from extinction. From 2022 to 2030, six measures are planned to save the sturgeon types Sterlet, Waxdick, Sternhausen and Hausen. This also includes the establishment of a floating breeding station. The project partners include University of Natural Sciences in Vienna (project management), the Austrian Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, Regions and Water Management, Viadonau and City of Vienna.
DIE MS NEGRELLI ALS LIFE-Boat4Sturgeon
The former stone transport ship MS Negrelli of the Viadonau was specially converted into a floating breeding station for Danube courses for the Life-Boat4sturgeon project. The ship will offer motherfish and boys in 31 rearing pools a home in Vienna’s Danube water and is therefore the official Life-Boat4sturgeon. By 2030, around 1.6 million young fish are said to be raised on the ship and then released in different Danube sections.

Am 10. April one 10.00h the MS Negrelli is opened as the Life Boat4sturgeon. As part of the official opening Press photo date instead of. Project partners and their political representatives will present the project and the MS Negrelli:
