In order to unknown the bicycle traffic from foot traffic and to offer a larger installation area, the existing platform sanctuary on the intersection plateau Praterstern/Nordbahnstraße in the 2nd district is being rebuilt. In addition, existing green areas will be enlarged and newly created and planted with five trees and perennials by May 2025. On Wednesday, February 26, 2025, the city of Vienna – street administration and road construction begins with the construction work.
Traffic measures
The work takes place when the lanes are drawn in the course of the Praterstern and the Nordbahnstrasse. On weekends 22nd and 23rd March and March 29th and 30th, access from Praterstern to Nordbahnstrasse is not possible. The diversion for cycling is carried out via Lassallestrasse and Praterstern. The redirection for motorized traffic takes place via Rotenstergasse, Weintrubengasse and Kleine Stadtgengasse.
