Nidec Acim (Appliance, Commercial and Industrial Motors) operates the last remaining production work for cold compressors for the household white area in Europe with its 240 employees at the Fürstenfeld location. The mixed group, founded in Kyoto in Japanese in 1973, employs over 110,000 employees worldwide. In Austria, Nidec has been expanding the location since the takeover of the work in Styria in 2020 and has already invested more than 40 million euros in production lines, automation and research and development.
Nidec continues to plan Austria in the future. In the next two years, the group plans a total investment of more than 22 million euros into the Fürstenfeld location, divided into two large projects: a new production line for inverters and in “atom”, the world’s most compact compressor family with speed-regulated drive for use in household cooling devices; This compressor was designed entirely in Austria and sets new standards in the areas of noise radiation and efficiency, which enables an energy consumption of around 25 % compared to traditional start/stop compressors.

In the business unit “Acim”, which includes the location in Fürstenfeld, drive components for white goods such as cooling devices, washing machines or dishwasher, but also commercial cooling devices and industrial applications are summarized.
Originally founded in 1982 by the Zanussi Group, the location in Fürstenfeld was operated by various companies. In 2017 Nidec acquired the location, but was forced to give up the location due to decisions by the EU competition authority. After the work in 2020 was before the new owner was closed, Nidec acquired it again and reopened it.
