The series was led by the in-development Photon Counting CT (PCCT) system VITA PCCT, a next-generation CT imaging technology that will redefine the future of diagnostic imaging. Also presented were the VITA 7.0T ultra-high field MRI and the VITA PET/CT, both of which are in development, as well as the commercially available ASTA 1.5T superconducting MRI. Revolutionizing traditional CT technology, PCCT uses photon counting-based tomography with CZT (Cadmium Zinc Telluride, CdZnTe) detectors for photon counting and energy analysis, enabling accurate measurement and recording of every transmitted X-ray photon to reveal unparalleled detail of internal structures to reveal. The PCCT innovation of direct imaging overcomes the limitations of conventional CT imaging due to crosstalk, electronic noise and energy mixing and significantly improves image resolution, which is fundamental for locating the smallest anomalies. Additionally, PCCT’s higher sensitivity and photon counting precision enable better imaging with lower radiation exposure, thereby minimizing radiation risk to patients. PCCT also excels in multispectral imaging due to its ability to distinguish substances and tissues based on the different energy signatures of photons.
