The local council committee for petitions met today, Friday, in the Vienna City Hall. There were 29 petitions on the agenda.
Petition “Cycle path for Mauerbachstrasse in the 14th!”
The local council committee for petitions decided to make recommendations to city councilor Ulli Sima and district leader Michaela Schüchner to continue working on an attractive cycle connection on Mauerbachstrasse. The petition was thus closed because the implementation of the cycle path was promised by both district leader Schüchner and city councilor Sima.
Petition “’Ottoman siege’ instead of ‘Turkish siege’ in all buildings in the state of Vienna and the city of Vienna (such as in municipal district offices, municipal buildings, museums and cultural institutions)”
The Petitions Committee recommended that City Councilor Veronika Kaup-Hasler monitor and evaluate further scientific findings and research results on the petition’s issue. Since extensive reviews have already taken place and continue to be evaluated on an ongoing basis, the petition has been closed.
Petition “Belt: bike lane instead of car lane!”
The local council committee decided to recommend that city councilor Ulli Sima continue to work on improving the cycling situation on the Belt. Since there is already continuous traffic on the entire western belt and the adjoining part of the southern belt for around seven kilometers up to the connection to the Danube Canal Cycle Path and work continues to be done to improve it, the petition has been closed.
Petition “Mozartplatz becomes car-free”
The committee made a recommendation to district leader Lea Halbwidl to continue making Mozartplatz more attractive and to increase the quality of stay on site. The petition was closed as efforts are already underway for a comprehensive redevelopment involving residents.
Petition “NO to the planned conversion of Seeböckgasse 1160 Vienna into a bicycle street”
The petition committee decided to recommend to city councilor Ulli Sima to continue improving the cycling infrastructure and to monitor the situation in Seeböckgasse. Since this bicycle street is an essential component of the cycling infrastructure in the west of Vienna, the petition was closed.
Petition “Phorusplatz now! Car-free school forecourt for the Phorusgasse elementary school”
The local council committee recommended that district leader Lea Halbwidl continue to examine the possibility of setting up a car-free school forecourt. The petition has been closed because the concerns of those who submitted the petition are fully supported and further solution options are being sought.
Petition “Livable Hasnerstrasse”
The local council committee for petitions decided to recommend to city councilor Ulli Sima that the situation on Hasnerstrasse be continually evaluated, as some improvements along Hasnerstrasse have already been prescribed and implemented. Since some problem areas on Hasnerstrasse have already been examined and improvement measures are to be implemented in the future, the petition has been closed.
Petition “The Helmut Kand case: Sexual abuse in the studio. Sister, we believe you.”
The petition committee decided to close the petition because a motion to remove the mural had already been unanimously approved by the local council and this measure is already being implemented.
Petition “’Livable Zentagasse’ traffic calming – greening – quality of life”
The committee decided to recommend to district head Silvia Jankovic that Zentagasse should continue to be actively monitored and kept in evidence. Since the temporary diversions on Wiedner Hauptstrasse will be removed at the end of 2024 and a reduction in private traffic can be expected, the petition has been closed.
Petition “Tempo 30 for the Inner Hernalser Hauptstrasse”
The local council committee made the recommendation to city councilor Ulli Sima to examine the implementation of the 30 km/h speed limit on Hernalser Hauptstrasse and decided to close the petition, as the development of traffic on Hernalser Hauptstrasse has been observed and is already aiming for a balanced mix of cycling, Car and public transport is set.
Petition “Währinger Belt: Green lane instead of parking lane”
The Petitions Committee decided to recommend to City Councilor Ulli Sima to continue to improve the situation on the Belt and to examine greening potential. The petition has been closed because a construction site is planned at the corner of Währinger Belt and Nußdorfer Straße in 2025. A short-term conversion is therefore not possible, but the situation is being examined.
Petition “Traffic Calming Rittingergasse”
The committee decided to recommend that district leader Georg Papai continue to monitor and evaluate the traffic situation in Rittingergasse and the surrounding area and to contact residents if future suggestions for improvement are made. Since traffic calming measures have already been taken and it is still important to the district to take the concerns of all residents seriously and to preventively improve traffic safety, the petition has been closed.
Petition “Forest Park Colony Street: Green Space Completely Preserved”
The local council committee decided to recommend to city councilor Ulli Sima that the entire area be redesignated as an EPK area (recreation area parks). Since the measures requested by the submitters are already being examined, the petition has been closed.
Petition “Let’s ensure the preservation of the Simmering Adventure Farm for our Vienna!”
The Petitions Committee recommended that district leader Thomas Steinhart continue to actively monitor developments in the Weichseltalweg urban development area with the involvement of residents and keep them documented. The petition was closed because the Simmering district administration signaled that it would provide support in finding solutions to maintain the offer or, if necessary, in the search for replacement space.
