Before consideration can be given to future pension provision, the acute construction issues must be taken care of: aliquoting, protective clause, adjustment, repair of the 2nd pillar
Vienna (OTS) – PVÖ President Dr. reacts with incomprehension. Peter Kostelka on the model of tax-privileged private pension provision presented by Finance Minister Brunner in today’s Morning Journal: “On the subject of pension provision on the capital market, we have been waiting since February for an answer from Finance Minister Brunner, as he remembers the high losses that many pensioners have with this the so-called ‘second pillar’ in company pensions. First, the damage caused by pension provision on the free capital market needs to be effectively repaired before other models that carry the same risk can be considered. We’re happy to talk about it. But only if there are clear solutions for past damage and clear rules for future 2nd pillar models.”
Complete urgent tasks now
Furthermore, Kostelka also reminds the Finance Minister that there are three urgent tasks for this government related to pensions that need to be addressed as a priority. According to the President of the Pensioners Association, these are: Firstly, the permanent abolition of the aliquoting of the first pension adjustment so that lifelong losses do not arise again for the 2025 pensioners. Secondly, the introduction of a protective clause regarding the revaluation number in the pension account so that everyone who retires in 2025 receives fair inflation compensation for the insufficient revaluations of previous years. And thirdly, determining the pension adjustment for 2025.
“Everything in turn,” concludes Kostelka, “first we have to deal with the acute problems that affect those people who are already retired or will soon be retiring. These are the tasks that need to be done now.” (FINAL)
