Pensioners’ Association mourns the loss of Fritz Verzetnitsch

Kostelka: A top politician and person who always sought balance.

Vienna (OTS) The Austrian Pensioners Association mourns the loss of the long-standing ÖGB President Fritz Verzetnitsch. Pensioners Association President Dr. Peter Kostelka highlights the importance of trade unionists for more than one generation in our society: “All former employees who are currently retired have benefited from his work, his commitment and his basic attitude of solidarity. All current pensioners, and also the generation before.”

Verzetnisch’s term of office was characterized by his almost always successful search for a balance of interests. A trait that is also manifested in all the expressions of grief published today by his former counterparts at the negotiating table. The numbers also prove this: in his almost 20-year term as ÖGB president, there were ten years without any union action. PVÖ President Kostelka: “Fritz Verzetnitsch was someone who always sought balance both in his role as a top politician and as a person. Our condolences go out to his family, his friends and companions.” (End)
