Peace light for everyone – on ORF Vorarlberg

Vorarlberg religious communities take over ORF Friedenslicht on December 21st

Vienna (OTS) Taking the ORF Peace Light home with you at Christmas is a decades-long tradition in Vorarlberg. On Thursday, December 21, 2023, at 5 p.m. the light will arrive at the ORF-Landesfunkhaus Vorarlberg in Dornbirn. Here it is received by representatives of all religions represented in Vorarlberg. Afterwards everyone is cordially invited to pick up the ORF Peace Light with a candle or lantern from ORF Vorarlberg.

Special arrival celebration

The ORF Peace Light is lit every year in Bethlehem and brought to Austria. The ÖBB distributes it with its trains throughout Austria, the fire brigade and boy scouts carry it to all Vorarlberg towns and communities. When the ORF peace light arrives at the ORF Vorarlberg regional broadcasting center in Dornbirn on December 21st at 5 p.m., ORF regional director Markus Klement, state parliament president Harald Sonderegger, ÖBB regional manager Marcus Ender as well as representatives of the young fire brigade and boy scouts will be there. The musical backdrop for the arrival of the ORF Peace Light at the ORF Landesfunkhaus Vorarlberg is a clarinet quartet from the Dornbirn-Rohrbach Music Association. Drinks and a small snack are served from the radio house kitchen.

Signs of togetherness

As an expression of solidarity, ORF Vorarlberg has invited all religious communities represented in Vorarlberg to take part in this special arrival celebration. Those who have confirmed their attendance are Diocesan Bishop Benno Elbs (Catholic Church), Pastor Michael Meyer (Protestant Church), Chairman Ayne Ahmet (Islamic Religious Community), Susanne Erdei (Israeli Community), Johannes Okoro (Old Catholic Church), Michael Neunteufel and Gudrun Winkler (Bahá’). i), Cagdas Boyraz (Free Alevis), Pastor Nikola Balovic (Orthodox Church) and Robert Schierl (New Apostolic Church). It is important to all of you that the ORF Peace Light reaches as many people as possible in all Vorarlberg homes.
