The latest statements by the Vienna FPÖ state party secretary Lukas Brucker expose a transparent attempt to derive pressure from the Vienna state group of the FPÖ – apparently controlled by the federal FPÖ and its chairman Herbert Kickl.
“It is quite remarkable: As soon as the pressure on Dominik Nepp and the Vienna FPÖ from their federal headquarters increases, they react with attacks on Karl Mahrer and the Vienna People’s Party. Instead of tackling Vienna’s real challenges, the Viennese FPÖ is playing its usual game of distraction by making mistakes. But this attack shows one thing above all: The FPÖ sees Karl Mahrer and the Vienna People’s Party as their biggest political competition – especially with regard to the Vienna election,” explains Peter Sverak, regional manager of the Vienna People’s Party.
“Herbert Kickl seems to be increasing the pressure on the Vienna regional group to bring them into line. This nervousness is expressed in the same, shallow attacks, which, however, do not contribute to solving Vienna’s problems. It’s clear to us: The Viennese FPÖ is attacking because it senses that our clear course is being received – a policy that offers solutions instead of loudness,” concluded Sverak.
