In the ozone monitoring area 1 of northeast Austria, ozone concentrations greater than 180 µg/m³ were measured as a one-hour average at the Hohe Warte and Schwechat measuring points. This means that the information threshold according to the Ozone Act was exceeded.
It is expected that the ozone concentrations will become similarly high as the day progresses and the information threshold will continue to be exceeded. Due to the meteorological situation, ozone pollution is expected to remain the same tomorrow.
Recommendations for voluntary behavior
Ozone concentrations above the information threshold can cause minor impairments in individual, particularly sensitive people and increased physical stress. Normal spending time outdoors, e.g. going for a walk, swimming or having a picnic, is also safe for sensitive people. They should be particularly informed about the further development of the ozone concentration in the occupied area. Further individual protective measures are only required if the alarm threshold is exceeded.
Due to increased ozone pollution, the Vienna Environmental Protection Department requests that people avoid non-essential car journeys and use public transport.
