Owners of the Großglockner mountain railways react with surprise and disappointment

Innsbruck (OTS) Discussions were well underway and various solution scenarios were examined and developed – media announcements by the mayor are not supported in the interest of the mountain railway and the region – further discussions will be held on Monday.

The owners of the Großglockner mountain railways, the Schmidl and Schröcksnadel families, react with surprise and disappointment to today’s announcements by State Councilor Sebastian Schuschnig and Mayor Martin Lackner of Heilgenblut. The discussions about various future scenarios have actually been going on in a very constructive and trusting manner for several months and were concluded with a result that was acceptable to everyone.

Unfortunately, it was not possible to coordinate a final appointment regarding this result or new variants with LR Schuschnig and BGM Lackner; an appointment scheduled for Thursday of this week was unfortunately canceled at short notice.

Yesterday late in the afternoon, an invitation to another appointment on Monday in Klagenfurt was issued at very short notice, some of which were now very surprising and irritating to us.

Confidentiality was agreed on from the start regarding the content of the ongoing discussions, which we have of course adhered to so far. We are of course surprised and irritated by the mayor’s actions today, who also seems to be speaking for the state council, namely, as partners of the municipality and region as well as owners of the Großglockner mountain railways, we are using the media to provide us with solutions that have not been agreed upon together and to issue ultimatums.

Following this approach by the mayor, we no longer feel bound to confidentiality and can therefore state:

The solution demanded by the mayor today lacks many important details and is therefore not supported by us in this form. We also find that issuing ultimatums and conditions through the media is not particularly effective and completely unnecessary. We’re also honestly disappointed with this style.

However, as always agreed, we want to continue the discussions positively and look for and find solutions together. Perhaps as early as Monday there will be opportunities to find acceptable, possibly new variants of an economically justifiable and sustainable future for the Heiligenblut mountain railways in the interests of the entire region.
