Vienna (OTS) – What if the internet goes down for three days? Hanno Settele does this in “Doc 1: www.nixgehtmehr.com – Three days of power failure” on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at 8:15 p.m. the thought experiment and asks how much our everyday life is determined by digitalization. At 9:05 p.m. the ORF premiere will focus on “World Power Facebook – The Empire of Mark Zuckerberg”. Then at 9:50 p.m., Hanno Settele will address the question of why so many young people want to become influencers in “Doc 1: Dream Job Influencer – Lots of Money for Nothing?”
“Dock 1: www.nixgehtmehr.com – Three days of power failure” with Hanno Settele at 8:15 p.m
You wake up in the morning and haven’t received a single message on your cell phone. The computer does not connect to the Internet. The wireless router blinks nervously. Same with the neighbors. This is the beginning of the “Doc 1” thought experiment. What happens if the internet doesn’t work for three days? How dependent is society already on digitalization? Which parts of everyday life still work and where can we expect chaos? How safe is Austria from cyber attacks? What emergency plans are there? Even if IT experts consider an Austria-wide Internet failure to be quite unlikely, this scenario is not entirely unrealistic in some areas. Hanno Settele looks at how much people’s lives would be affected if we were involuntarily offline.
ORF premiere: “World Power Facebook – The Empire of Mark Zuckerberg” at 9:05 p.m
Mark Zuckerberg revolutionized social life with his dating software in 2003 as a student at Harvard University. The success of Facebook made him the youngest self-made billionaire at the age of 23. With the spread of fake news and extremist posts, the network came under fire after Brexit, Donald Trump’s election victory and the attack on the US Capitol. Has Zuckerberg lost control of his “machine” or is he using the criticized mechanisms to maximize his own profits? Will he be able to escape forward with “Meta”? The Austrian data protection expert Max Schrems, who sued Facebook, also has his say in the documentary by Julien Le Bot and Laurent Follea.
“Doc 1: Dream job influencer – a lot of money for nothing?” with Hanno Settele at 9:50 p.m
The dream job of many young people is to earn money as an influencer by uploading self-directed videos and photos online. What looks like pure fun to most people is actually backbreaking work that drives quite a few influencers to the brink of burnout – or beyond. And only very few are pushed to the top by the algorithm. Hanno Settele visits a Viennese influencer shared apartment and even dares to try it himself on TikTok.
