IKG President criticizes police actions during protests against supporters of terrorism
Vienna (OTS) – Oskar German “Where do we live? There are calls for terror against Jews at the Intifada camp, and the police do not intervene. The next day, students protest against the calls for violence, and the police protect the terrorist friends, surround and report the peaceful people who hold up signs with slogans such as “Free Gaza From Hamas”. The responsible officials have thereby contributed to more uncertainty for all students and greater fear among Jews in Austria. Trust is shattered. The procedure is grotesque and is in stark contradiction to all statements made by the Minister of the Interior and the Minister of Justice.”
The Old General Hospital of the University of Vienna has been the scene of a protest camp for a few days, during which, among other things, there were calls for a global intifada. The Intifada is a violent terror campaign with assassinations against innocent civilians.
The protest camp and the anti-Semitic agitation taking place there are a further escalation of anti-Semitic activities since October 7, 2023. According to the annual report of the Anti-Semitism Reporting Center, the number of anti-Semitic incidents reported daily in Austria has increased by over 430% since the Hamas genocidal massacre.
Oskar German: “In other cities, for example in Germany, decisive action has been taken against supporters of terrorism at universities. Therefore, it is now important to question the operational management on the campus of the University of Vienna, replace them if necessary and finally dismantle this Intifada camp.”
The IKG president also thanked the ÖH University of Vienna and the Jewish Austrian students for their decisive stand against the apologists of terror on the university campus. The IKG supports the students in their efforts to maintain the university as a safe place for all students. Oskar German: “Unfortunately, Jews are currently being intimidated and threatened. This must stop immediately!”
