From January 12, 2024 every Friday at 7 p.m. on ORF 2 V and on ORF Radio Vorarlberg
Vienna (OTS) – Into the winter wonderland: From January 12, 2024, ORF Vorarlberg will embark on a journey through the major winter sports regions of Vorarlberg and will present the TV magazine “Vorarlberg today” every Friday for six weeks (7 p.m., ORF 2 V) and on ORF Radio Vorarlberg Beauties of winter.
ORF Vorarlberg editor Karin Stecher travels through idyllic, snow-covered ski areas and shows Vorarlberg’s breathtaking mountain backdrops – starting in the Bregenzerwald through the Brandnertal, the Klostertal, the Kleine Walsertal and the Montafon to the Arlberg. She also meets people who have a special connection to their homeland, tell exciting stories and provide insights into winter in their region.
January 12th: Bregenzerwald
The “ORF Vorarlberg Winter Magic” starts with a fast-paced husky sleigh ride through the Bregenzerwald and subsequent igloo building. Guests are Herbert Rüf, a snow groomer driver in the Damüls-Mellau ski area for 40 years, and Christian Lingenhöhle, director of the Vorarlberg FIS Ski Museum in Damüls and initiator and presenter of the Bregenzerwald podcast “Forest and World”.
January 19th: Brandnertal
In Brand, a sporty snow tour is undertaken with special Segways with winter tires. There is also a “lift date” where winter sports enthusiasts get to know like-minded people and make new acquaintances while on the chair lift and skiing. Max Sturm, the oldest still active tourism director in the region, as well as ski guide and local unicum Herbert Kegele know exciting stories.
January 26th: Klostertal
In the Klostertal there is a lantern hike through the snowy winter landscape. The “Traube” restaurant in Klösterle has a new gastronomic concept. In addition, local museum and tourism guide Andrea Fritz and ski instructor legend Erich Melmer offer exciting insights into the valley.
February 2nd: Kleines Walsertal
In the Kleiner Walsertal we will visit award-winning chef Jeremias Riezler, who was recently awarded the “Green Gault & Millau toque” for living sustainability. We continue with a snowboard builder about his work, the new Kleinwalsertal tourism director Justina Rokita introduces herself and Eliane Fritz introduces us to the special features of the Walser dialect.
February 9th: Montafon
The program in Montafon includes an alpaca trekking tour and then an evening fire bowl hike, where many lights in the form of fire bowls and lanterns line the snow-covered hiking trails. Former top athlete Markus Schairer and influencer Linda Meixner have a lot to tell.
February 16th: Arlberg
In Lech am Arlberg, the bar “The Yurt” awaits guests, a Kyrgyz nomad tent that is staying in Lech for a few winter months. The posh ski resort also offers numerous art installations. Celebrity hotelier Kristl Moosbrugger knows many stories of high society on the Arlberg, and the DJ from the “K.Club” goes to Lech nightlife.
Markus Klement, regional director of ORF Vorarlberg: “With the ‘ORF Vorarlberg Winter Magic’ we want to show the diversity but also the uniqueness of six Vorarlberg valleys. The individual regions all have their own peculiarities in terms of history, customs, culture and lifestyle.”
Angelika Simma-Wallinger, editor-in-chief of ORF Vorarlberg: “The ORF Vorarlberg team travels all over the country every day to show what makes Vorarlberg special, who we are, what moves us. This time, in addition to the camera and microphone, we have a thick jacket and snowshoes with us and show the most beautiful sides of winter.”
