Vienna (OTS) – ORF 2 has long offered space for discussion on Sunday mornings from 11:05 a.m. – whether in the “press hour”, in the “Europastudio” or in the “round of editors in chief”. In 2024, this format will be expanded and will provide space for further rounds of discussions, all of which will take place under the title “The Round”. It starts on February 4th with “ZIB 2” presenter Armin Wolf, who will discuss current topics with political scientist Thomas Hofer, journalists Corinna Milborn and Cathrin Kahlweit and journalist Michael Fleischhacker. In different compositions, “The Round” is intended to expand the range of discussions on Sunday mornings.
The “super election year” 2024 will become the magnifying glass for politics in Austria. The parties bring programs and people to the fore in order to sharpen their profile. What chances of success does the ÖVP’s strategy of opening up politically to the right while at the same time closing itself to the FPÖ under Herbert Kickl? The political discourse is becoming sharper overall, and extreme political positions are becoming more popular worldwide. Should we also be worried about democracy in Austria? Global crises and wars such as the Russian attack on Ukraine also create uncertainty. Will neutrality remain the only answer for Austrian security policy in the future?
