ORF RSO Vienna in April and May: Austrian premiere of HK Gruber’s “Short Stories from the Vienna Woods”

Vienna (OTS) The ORF Radio Symphony Orchestra Vienna will play under conductor Heinz Karl Gruber in the Vienna Konzerthaus on April 22nd and will present the Austrian premiere of its work “Short Stories from the Vienna Woods”. The ORF RSO Vienna will play another concert in the Vienna Konzerthaus on May 4th under Andrey Boreyko. On May 12th, the orchestra will present a “Matinee for Mother’s Day” in Esterházy Palace.

On Monday, April 22nd (7:30 p.m.), the ORF RSO Vienna will present works by Heinz Karl Gruber under the composer’s direction in the Vienna Konzerthaus. Trumpet soloist is Selina Ott. The program includes the Austrian premiere of “Short Stories from the Vienna Woods,” a symphonic adaptation of the opera “Stories from the Vienna Woods,” as well as “Manhattan Broadcasts” and his concert for trumpet and orchestra “Aerial.” Ö1 will broadcast the concert recording on Thursday, May 2nd (from 7:30 p.m.).

On Saturday, May 4th (7:30 p.m.) the ORF RSO Vienna will play again in the Vienna Konzerthaus, conducted by Andrey Boreyko. The orchestra, together with violinist Nemanja Radulović, presents the Concerto for Violin and Orchestra in D minor by Aram Khachaturian and the 8th Symphony in C minor by Dmitri Dmitriyevich Shostakovich. The concert recording can be heard on Tuesday, May 14th (from 7:30 p.m.) on Ö1.

The ORF RSO Vienna is playing again this year at the traditional Mother’s Day matinee in the Haydn Hall in Esterházy Palace in Eisenstadt:
On Sunday, May 12th (11 a.m.), the orchestra under conductor Roland Kluttig presents the overture to “The Fairy Tale of the Beautiful Melusine” by Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, his concerto for violin and orchestra in E minor and the 3rd Symphony in E-flat. Major by Robert Schumann. Soloist on the violin is Arabella Steinbacher. Details about the ORF RSO Vienna concert program are available at https://rso.orf.at/.
