Vienna (OTS) – Today, Wednesday, June 26, 2024, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation withdrew the accreditation of the head of the ORF Moscow correspondent office, Carola Schneider.
The ORF states: The Russian authorities have today withdrawn the accreditation of the head of the ORF Moscow, Carola Schneider, and asked her to leave the country as soon as possible. The ORF takes note of Russia’s decision, but cannot understand it at all. Carola Schneider has reported from Moscow very competently for many years and has always complied with all Russian laws. Today’s measure can only be interpreted as an arbitrary act against independent reporting. Just like the expulsion of ORF correspondent Maria Knips-Witting. Both top journalists will of course continue to report on Russia in the usual quality, initially from the foreign editorial office in Vienna. The ORF protests against Russia’s actions and will apply for new accreditations.
