ORF Lower Austria – Bringing people into conversation

St. Pölten (OTS) ORF Lower Austria invited people to the already traditional summer lounge on June 19, 2024. Last year, the program plans were presented here – an initial assessment was made in front of more than 300 guests from business, politics, religion, media, culture and society.

The heart of the program initiatives: “A place with the word” – the new monthly discussion program with Werner Fetz ensured full houses and a lot to talk about from the first edition. Already at the first edition on October 18, 2023 with “The Wolf – Threat or Enrichment?” There was a huge rush to join in the discussion in Langschlag. The topic of the second edition on November 23, 2023 in Strasshof also provided plenty of material for discussion:
“Marchfeld Expressway – important or crazy?”. ORF Lower Austria regional director Alexander Hofer: “This format triggered a great response. The audience showed a lot of interest in every edition and welcomed the opportunity to discuss the pros and cons in a balanced manner. Bringing people together and having a conversation – no matter what your opinion is, that is the core of this new show, but also the basic idea of all of our program initiatives.”

The state studios have a very important role when it comes to being in contact with the audience and addressing the issues that concern people. ORF General Director Roland Weißmann: “’Federal State Today’ is the most successful program in Austria – 1.5 million to 2 million people watch the program every day. This is a good place to start in difficult times. The state studios fulfill their public service mandate every day and do it very, very well.”

The relaunch of “Guten Morgen NÖ” was also successfully implemented. The permanent team for the country’s largest radio morning show has been in action since September: Andi Hausmann for three weeks and Jenny Frank for one week ensure a good start to the day.

In the spring, the “Radio NÖ Brass Music Contest” was the focus of the program for three weeks. 26 brass bands from all parts of Lower Austria took part and submitted their Radio Lower Austria hit – 625,000 votes were cast. The Langau band near Geras secured victory. The prize – a two-day, professional sound recording in Lower Austria radio quality. In the first week the Engabrunn music club was at the top, in the second week the Traismauer music club was at the top. On June 13th, all three bands came to a twilight drink in the marquee at the ORF NÖ radio station in St. Pölten.

Right after Easter, “NÖ aktuell” started with two new weather presenters and a new weather presentation. Since April 2, 2024, the two Radio Lower Austria presenters Tanja Karssemeijer and Clemens Krautzer have been alternatingly presenting the new weather every week according to “Lower Austria today” with new presentation options with more detailed weather models for the regions and weather images for the audience.

Three new sections were launched in “NÖ Today” at the end of 2023: The science section “Why actually?” – every Monday editor Tobias Mayr asks this question in the science region of Lower Austria, and alternately every Friday “Viewpoints” and “Garden Time”. “Viewpoints” is about the audience’s opinion on current topics and “Garden Time” has everything to do with the long-running topic of gardening.

As the act of the evening, the Seer made a stop in St. Pölten exclusively for the third ORF-NÖ summer lounge on their farewell tour. They thrilled the summer lounge audience with a best of their hits. The Wolfgang Lindner Band also provided the musical accompaniment to the summer evening.
