Next record for boys: Best March market share in the 12-29 year old target group since 2007
Vienna (OTS) – In March 2024, the ORF broadcasting group achieved, among other things, the well-used information programs, fiction à la “Tatort” and “Rosenheim Cops”, entertainment classics such as “Small vs. Large” and the “Million Show” as well as the Austrian international football match – Turkey or the Formula 1 opener on ORF has a market share of 35.2 percent and a daily reach of 3.598 million viewers, which corresponds to 47.7 percent of the TV population.
ORF 1 achieved the second best March MA since 2017 at E12+ with 11.2 percent MA and at E-49 (12.6 percent MA). ORF 2 achieved – apart from the Corona years 2020 to 2022 – with 20.8 percent MA on the best March result since 2015 or at 12-49 with 10.5 percent MA on the March MA record since 2014. The ORF group achieved 31.1 percent MA among young audiences (E-29 ) the top March MA since 2007.

March top ratings in ORF 1
— Up to 1.119 million watched the 6-1 win against Turkey on March 26th. On average, 965,000 people did not miss the second half with a 42 percent market share; in the young target groups the market share was 49 (E-49) and 63 percent (E-29).
— The birthday documentary “Toni Polster – Away from the Penalty Area” on March 6th achieved an average reach of 347,000.
— A hit with young viewers is “The Big Chance – Let’s Sing and Dance”: At the start on March 8th, an average of 565,000 spectators attended Fanny Stapf and Andi Knoll, 25 talents on the DGC stage welcomed; The market share in the 12-29 year old target group was up to 31 percent in March.
— “Soko Linz” successfully started a new season in March:
An average of up to 543,000 viewers were there on March 19th, with the market share in the young target groups being 28 (12-29) and 21 percent (12-49).
— The “ORF 1 Special: How is Austria?” edition of the big “ORF asks” survey on March 20th reached up to 259,000 viewers on the second main evening, with an eleven percent market share in the 12-49 year old target group.
— “Doc 1: Day of rest forever – When the inn closes” on March 27th, with 23 percent MA at E-49, made it into the top 5 since the start.
— “Smart10” was also successful in March: with an average of 23 percent MA at E-29, it was the best monthly value for the evening before the quiz since the start.
March top ratings in ORF 2
— An average of 921,000 viewers were put to the test of trust together with Harald Krassnitzer and Adele Neuhauser when the successful Austrian duo was caught up in their own past in the latest case “Your Loss” on March 10th – with a market share of 29 percent; in the target groups 12-29 and 12-49, the market share was 23 and 16 percent, respectively; The latest Austro “crime scene” was once again very popular with the German audience: an average of 8.87 million tuned in to “Dein Loss” with a market share of 29 percent.
— The “Tatort” issue “Unter Gärtnern” on March 17th also achieved top values with a reach of 1.021 million and a market share of 32 percent.
— Up to 742,000 people didn’t miss “Small vs. Big – The Incredible Duel” on March 2nd, an average of 672,000 attended with a 29 percent market share, which are the best figures for the show on ORF to date; at 12-29 the show had a 27 percent market share.
— “Am Schauplatzgericht” was also well used on March 21st, with an average reach of 662,000 and a 24 percent market share.
— The “dream ship” reached its highest level since 2013 with 26 percent MA on March 31st.
March top values in ORF III
— The ranking in March is led by “Heimat Österreich: Vom Murtal ins Zirbenland” from March 13th with 203,000 RW at 8 percent MA, followed by “Landleben: An der Schlögener Schlinge” with 155,000 RW at 6 percent MA and “Heimat Österreich : Living in Attergau” with 154,000 RW at 5 percent MA.
Heavy streaming usage
The ORF video streams were also heavily used in March: According to the online moving image measurement (AGTT/GfK TELETEST census), the live streams and videos on demand in Austria achieved a total of 14.3 million net views (related usage processes). 81.4 million gross views (video starts). The total usage volume was 384 million minutes (preliminary figures). Contributing to this high level of usage are, among other things, the video content on news.ORF.at and sport.ORF.at, which has been expanded since January, as well as numerous highlights from sports broadcasts to fictional and entertainment offerings and, in some cases, longer availability times in the ORF TVthek and on the new platform ORF ON. The most used ORF live stream in March was the second half of the international football match between Austria and Turkey on March 26th with an average reach of 60,000.
