ORF III weekly highlights: TV premiere of “On the Red Chair” on February 15th

Vienna (OTS) Carnival at ORF III with highlights from the Austrian cabaret landscape

On Rose Monday, February 12th, ORF III has a humorous three-part “ORF III Theme Monday” on the program from 8:15 p.m.: In “Homo Niavaranicus – The Best of the Last 55 Years” star cabaret artist Michael Niavarani jokes around with ORF-III -Moderator Peter Fässlacher through the evening. The audience favorite then delivers entertaining punch lines in “Niavarani’s Fasching Express” (9:05 p.m.) together with Monika Gruber, Otto Schenk and Andreas Steppan. Finally, Niavarani and Viktor Gernot’s “VODKA ORANGE – Best of” (9:55 p.m.) concludes the themed Monday with legendary sketches and musical parodies.

The laughter continues on Shrove Tuesday, February 13th, on ORF III from 8:15 p.m. with another night of Austro humor: with Alex Kristan’s “Highlights from the first three programs”, “Klaus Eckel – The Best Moments” (9:15 p.m.), “Best of Karl Farkas” (10:05 p.m.) and the two-part program “Farkas, Waldbrunn & Co” (10:35 p.m. and 11:10 p.m.) with the most unforgettable moments of the legendary cabaret duo and top-class colleagues.

“Heimat Österreich” and two new “Country Life” productions take you to the Mürztal Alps, the Lungau and the Filzmoos ski area

In a brand new edition of “Heimat Österreich” on Wednesday, February 14th, Wolfgang Winkler explores the wintry landscape “From Trofaiach to Laintal” (8:15 p.m.) and discovers that the lives of the locals in the Mürztal Alps at this time of year are both is characterized by winter sports and farm work. This will be followed by the new “Landleben” production “Through the Lungau” (9:05 p.m.). Alfred Ninaus gets to the bottom of everyday life in the mountain villages of Tamsweg, Tweng and Lessach, where Martina Brugger runs a mountain farm at an altitude of 1,400 meters and Franz Kaml farms at over 1,200 meters. At 9:55 p.m. another new production will focus on the “Around Filzmoos” area. In winter, sports such as ice fishing and ice skating are on the agenda here, which strengthen the locals’ sense of community.

Health in ORF III: Fasting for beginners and detox myths

In a new edition of “MERYNS sprachzimmer” (10:30 p.m.) on Ash Wednesday, the focus is on fasting: In addition to the religious meaning of fasting, many people also see a number of health benefits in the centuries-old tradition. Fasting is said to renew cells, improve digestion, promote weight loss and provide holistic well-being. ORF health expert Siegfried Meryn and his guests – spa doctor and fasting expert Dr. Ulrike Göschl, nutritionist Mag.a Margit Fensl and molecular biologist Prof. Sascha Martens from the University of Vienna – investigate the question of whether fasting is actually so healthy and reveal how you can fast properly even as a beginner. Afterwards, “treffpunkt medizin” (11:20 p.m.) gets to the bottom of well-known health myths with the program “Health Myths Detox: Liver and Galleries” and checks the facts.

TV premiere of “On the Red Chair” on ORF III

“On the Red Chair” (11:05 p.m.), the successful format by drummer Bernhard Egger, celebrates its TV premiere on ORF III on Thursday, February 15th. At the start of the new series, Egger has star cabaret and audience favorite Monika Gruber in front of his microphone. In a very personal conversation, she talks about her life, classifies current social developments and becomes so emotional that tears even flow.

“Land of the Mountains” takes a look at mountain farming life in Austria

A new “Land of the Mountains” production will take place in the Lesachtal on Thursday, February 15th. Under the title “Mountain Farmer Life: In the Lesachtal” (8:15 p.m.), the documentary portrays the life of the Lugger family as the seasons change and shows their everyday life in the picturesque Lesachtal. A second “Land of the Mountains” edition then focuses on mountain farming life in “winter” (9:05 p.m.): The ORF III production presents four farming families from Salzburg, Tyrol, Carinthia and Styria and accompanies them through the winter months and gives an authentic insight into their sustainable lifestyle and farm management.

“zeit.geschichte” new production for Peter Rapp’s 80th birthday

On the occasion of ORF presenter and entertainer Peter Rapp’s 80th birthday, the new “zeit.geschichte” production “Peter Rapp – The Eternal Showman” (8:15 p.m.) on Saturday, February 17th is dedicated to his life and his unparalleled career of the television star. In the 1980s and 1990s, Peter Rapp hosted almost every major evening show on ORF. As Georg Schütz’s documentary shows, Rapp’s life story is just as turbulent as his television story. Starting at 10:45 p.m., Johannes Hoppe will present excerpts from more than 100 programs in “Peter Rapp – As if it were Yesterday,” which show Austria’s longest-serving showmaster in his entire spectrum.

Also in the main evening: The two “zeit.geschichte” documentaries “Woman with Principles – The TV Legend Chris Lohner” (9:05 p.m.) and “Harald Juhnke – the Entertainer of the Century” (9:55 p.m.) shed light on two other luminaries of Austrian and German television .

Classic on Sunday: “Stage Experience with Barbara Rett”

As a prelude to the Bruckner Year 2024, the ORF III “Experience Stage” will present “Thielemann’s Bruckner – the 7th!” (8:15 p.m.), the popular 7th Symphony by Anton Bruckner in the interpretation of Bruckner, on Sunday, February 18th.
