Vienna (OTS) “ORF III Theme Monday” on CO2 compensation and greenwashing

The “ORF III Theme Monday” on June 10th will first present the new production “The CO2 Lie” (8:15 p.m.), created in collaboration with ARTE: The so-called climate compensation allows corporations and events to compensate for their climate sins with climate protection projects – mostly at the other end of the spectrum world – to be counterbalanced. What measurable effect has this practice left on the atmosphere over the past 20 years? The Austrian climate researcher Daniel Huppmann and his European colleagues are looking for answers and looking at the compensation projects of large companies. The causes of sudden cardiac death range from coronary heart disease to congenital heart defects to genetic factors that affect heart health. Early detection and prevention therefore play a crucial role and in an emergency, every minute counts. ORF III health expert Siegfried Meryn answers the audience’s questions in “MERYN am Montag” (6.45 p.m.) together with Georg Delle Karth, specialist in internal medicine and cardiology and head of the cardiology department at the Floridsdorf Clinic.

“ORF III Cultural Tuesday”: “Secrets of Vienna’s city center”, new edition “erLesen”

“Secrets of Vienna’s city center” illuminates “Heritage Austria” on “Culture Tuesday”, June 11th: In the main evening from 8:15 p.m., three documentaries will focus on Vienna’s city center with its millennia-old history as the scene of important events, the place of influence of great personalities and the imperial splendor as the center of a great empire.
Afterwards, Heinz Sichrovsky welcomes US writer TC Boyle in a new edition of “erLesen” (10:45 p.m.) and talks to him about his most recent work, the collection of short stories “I Walk Between the Raindrops,” in which he humorously explores dark themes of mortality to the end of civilization. Also a guest is Ildiko von Kürthy with her new novel “Half an Eternity” about getting older with its challenges and opportunities, as well as Katharina Winkler with the recently published book “Siebenmeilenherz” in childlike, innocent language about the unspeakable, sexualized violence and abuse.

Humorous through Wednesday evening and “Thursday night”

From Viktor Gernot’s Prater stage to the Wachauarena Melk to the Kittenberg Adventure Gardens: On Wednesday, June 12th, Gerald Fleischhacker will present “Tafelrunde Open Air – The best moments” (8:15 p.m.) from three years of “Cabaret under the stars”. There are many audience favorites from the local scene, such as Klaus Eckel, Gery Seidl, Andreas Vitásek, Viktor Gernot, Gernot Kulis, Günther Lainer, Lydia Prenner-Kasper, Angelika Niedetzky, Caroline Athanasiadis and Malarina. Afterwards, in the first edition of the new “Cabaret Talent Show” (9:35 p.m.), Nina Hartmann goes in search of promising “young talent” from local cabaret, comedy and satire. She is supported by a well-known jury consisting of cabaret colleagues such as Monica Weinzettl, Gerald Fleischhacker and Herbert Haider.
On “Thursday Night” on June 13th there will be “Cabaret from the Orpheum Graz” (9:55 p.m.) with “Stefan Verra – Body Language Doesn’t Change,” followed by the second edition of the “Cabaret Talent Show” (11:10 p.m.) from the Vindobona. This time the jury is made up of cabaret favorites such as Gerold Rudle, Gerald Fleischhacker or manager and “Kulisse” host Alexa Oetzlinger. The humorous series ends with “Cabaret in the Tower” (12:20 a.m.) with Klagenfurt newcomer Ina Jovanovic and her new program “Unexpected” about self-acceptance and identity crises.

Premiere “The Green River of the Alps: The Inn”

On June 13, ORF III will present the first two episodes of the new “Land of the Mountains” production “The Green River of the Alps: The Inn” and invite you to a captivating journey along one of the longest and mightiest Alpine rivers in a total of four parts. The first film accompanies the Inn “From the Origin to Altfinstermünz” (8:15 p.m.):
Starting from its tranquil source in the majestic Albula Alps in the Engadine, the documentary leads through a picturesque landscape, such as the unique watershed at the Lunghin Pass, where the view wanders in three different directions and the rivers Po, Rhine and Inn make their way to different seas find. We then continue “From Pfunds to Haiming” (9:05 p.m.), past lush meadows, dense forests, historical buildings and impressive mountain peaks, to the apple growing center in the Tyrolean Inn Valley.

“zeit.geschichte” evening on the cult series “A Castle on Lake Wörthersee” The “zeit.geschichte” evening on Saturday, June 15th will be opened by the new documentary “A Castle on Lake Wörthersee – The History of the Cult Series” (8:15 p.m.) , which guarantees a nostalgic journey back to the iconic locations of the popular hit. Roy Black, the charming heart of the series, and his sudden death made the successful production an unforgettable legacy. With a total of three seasons, consisting of 33 episodes, two specials and a 90-minute feature film, “A Castle on Lake Wörthersee” is one of the most successful German-language TV series of the 1990s. ORF III then takes a look at six decades of extensive filmmaking with “Films, Stars and Starlets – 60 Years of Lisa Film” (9:05 p.m.) and celebrates the anniversary of the company, which also produced “A Castle on Lake Wörthersee”; Lisa Film was founded in 1964 by Paul Löwinger and later led by Karl Spiehs, who was considered a visionary producer. The documentary contains previously unpublished material as well as anecdotes from film sets and shows memories of prominent personalities such as Uschi Glas and Thomas Gottschalk. The “zeit.geschichte” evening ends with the 1992 film “A Castle on Lake Wörthersee” (9:55 p.m.).

On the 60th anniversary of his death: Memories of Hans Moser

On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of Hans Moser’s death, ORF III is dedicating a program focus to the Austrian cult actor on Sunday, June 16th: The theme day opens with the portrait “The Eternal Serviceman” (9:25 a.m.). This is followed by Austrian film treasures with the audience favorite – from “The Chancellor” (10.20 a.m.) to “Mr. Josef’s Last Love” (3.25 p.m.) to “Hello, Serviceman” (6.30 p.m.) with Paul Hörbiger, among others.

Concert highlights on Sunday with Rainhard Fendrich, Herbert Pixner and Hubert von Goisern

On Sunday evening, ORF III shows the concert “Rainhard Fendrich – Symphonic in Schönbrunn” (8:15 p.m.). After the legendary opening of the Vienna Festival Weeks in 1992 together with the Vienna Symphony Orchestra and the Schönberg Choir under the direction of Christian Kolonovits, Fendrich and Kolonovits decided to present another orchestral concert. They ultimately gave three guest performances with the Salzburg Philharmonic, two in Salzburg and one in Vienna. At the end of May this year, Fendrich released the live album of the concert recorded in front of Schönbrunn Palace in 2022. ORF III talks to the Austrobard about the album and shows the best concert pictures. Afterwards, “Pixner’s Jam Session: Herbert Pixner & Hubert von Goisern” (9:05 p.m.) will be shown for the first time on TV, the long version of a unique and rousing performance, in which the two exceptional artists and their bands played together in the ORF regional studio in Salzburg in 2023.
