Vienna (OTS) Everything about cosmetic products and cleaning products in the “ORF III Theme Monday”

On April 15th, the “ORF III Theme Monday” is dedicated to everyday household products. First, the report “How good is ‘dm’?” (8:15 p.m.) examines the quality, products and prices of the well-known drugstore, compares them with well-known brands and sheds light on the secret of success – from attractive pricing to business premises with a feel-good atmosphere. Then it’s about “Tricks of the detergent industry – the business of cleanliness” (9:05 p.m.). The documentary examines the promise of radiant purity and raises the question of what we actually put in our washing machines. The film then focuses on this: “More toxic Household” (9.55 p.m.) the “dirty sides of cleaners”. Finally, the documentary “Washing and cleaning without chemicals” (10.45 p.m.) shows environmentally friendly and gentle alternatives.

Health in ORF III: “Hypochondria”, “Pharmacy in the Vegetable Basket” and nutritional myths

“MERYN on Monday” (6.45 p.m.) is dedicated to the topic of “hypochondria”. The tingling in the arm is interpreted as the onset of a stroke, the headache as a brain tumor and joint pain as a sign of multiple sclerosis. The constant fear of being seriously ill weighs heavily on those affected. Where is the line between health concerns and hypochondria? Where can those affected turn to lead a fulfilling life despite their fears and how can outsiders deal with their relatives’ illness? ORF III health expert Siegfried Meryn answers the audience’s questions together with Christian Walcher, specialist in psychiatry and psychotherapeutic medicine.
On Wednesday, April 17th, it’s all about “The Pharmacy in the Vegetable Basket” (10:30 p.m.): Secondary plant substances are known to be extremely health-promoting. What do we actually know about it, what is being researched and what is the real superfood? Can the colorful, diverse tubers, seeds, fruits and leaves actually provide everything that keeps you healthy? The new “treffpunkt medizin” production gets to the bottom of these and other questions. The film “Health Myths: Nutrition” (11:15 p.m.) then looks at the numerous nutritional trends of our time.

“ORF III Cultural Tuesday” including the finale for the three-part series “Waterways in Austria”

The “ORF III Cultural Tuesday” on April 16th presents the third and final part of the new “Erbe Österreich” production “Waterways in Austria” (8:15 p.m.), which this time follows the Enns from the source to the mouth. In earlier times, the rushing river served as a waterway connecting the Eisenwurzen, the so-called “Emperor’s Armory,” with the Danube and thus with the capital Vienna. The iron boom also gave the regions along the river a boost. “In the South” continues with the finale of the “Heritage Austria” trilogy “Austria’s Great Travel Routes” (9:05 p.m.). The name of today’s Triester Street in Vienna derives from the fact that it once led towards the important imperial port city of Trieste. In Roman times and the Middle Ages it served as a connecting route to Carinthia as well as to Veneto and Friuli. Once in the south, the city portrait “Florence – Habsburg and the Beautiful on the Arno” (9.55 p.m.) about the magnificent capital of Tuscany concludes the “ORF III Cultural Tuesday”.

Documentary premieres about the Salzkammergut, Hausruckberge and hikers in the Waldviertel

On Wednesday (April 17th) “Heimat Österreich” will be on the road with a new production “In the inner Salzkammergut” (8.15 p.m.) as part of the ORF III focus on the “Cultural Capital of Bad Ischl Salzkammergut”. With the mighty Dachstein in the background, Bad Goisern on Lake Hallstatt, Hallstatt, Gosau and Obertraun make up this picturesque region full of traditions.
“Landleben” then looks at another documentary premiere, first “In the Hausruckbergen” (9:05 p.m.), a chain of hills in the foothills of the Alps in Upper Austria, then it continues to western Austria on high alpine terrain “Around the Parseierspitze” (9:55 p.m.).
When Napoleon was experiencing his Waterloo and the congress was meeting in Vienna, the imperial court actor Johann Anton Friedrich Reil set off for the Waldviertel, far away from world politics. He writes the first hiking guide about this region of the monarchy. Actor Stefano Bernardin follows in his footsteps on Thursday (April 18) in the new “Land of the Mountains” production “The Wanderer in the Waldviertel” (8:15 p.m.) with Reil’s booklet in his backpack. In a second production in the series, “This is how the Kalkalpen sound” (9:05 p.m.), musician and cabaret artist Christof Spörk sets out on adventurous and rocky paths to experience the “sound of the mountains” and the beauty of the mountain range between the Steyrtal and the Ennstal to discover.

“Thursday Night” with Thomas Stipsits, Manuel Thalhammer and Ursula Strauss

On “Thursday Night” on April 18th, Thomas Stipsits, with his current program “Greece” (9:55 p.m.), finds himself as a vacationer in the middle of the local mythology, whose twelve tests he masters with Austrian wit. Afterwards, the audience favorite “On the Red Chair” (11:15 p.m.) sits with Bernhard Egger. Manuel Thalhammer, winner of the ORF 1 show “The Comedy Challenge” and one of the local cabaret’s biggest young hopes, has already won numerous cabaret competitions. In a new edition of “Cabaret in the Tower” (12:20 a.m.) in his new program “Survival” he shows how to stay alive while you are sinking colossally. On the occasion of Ursula Strauss’s 50th birthday, ORF III is finally showing the program “Ernst Molden & Ursula Strauss: Wüdnis live” (1.10 a.m.) with stories from the musical duo as well as excerpts from their album “WÜDNIS”.

Two new editions of “Acting Legends” then trace the great careers of stage and film stars “Susi Nicoletti” (9:05 p.m.) and “Senta Wengraf” (9:55 p.m.). The production “Acting Legends: Curd Jürgens” (10:45 p.m.) ultimately portrays one of the few global stars that German cinema produced after the Second World War. Jürgens, among others, embodied the charismatic villain alongside Roger Moore in the 1977 James Bond film. Movie “The Spy Who Loved Me”.

“Experience Stage”: “Philharmonic Concert with Christian Thielemann and Igor Levit”

On Sunday, April 21st, “erlebnis Bühne” will present the “Philharmonic Concert with Christian Thielemann and Igor Levit” recorded in December 2023 (8:15 p.m.): The German star conductor will perform together with the renowned pianist Igor Levit and the Vienna Philharmonic Johannes Brahms’ work in focus:
