Vienna (OTS) – “ORF III Theme Monday”: How price increases affect life and consumption
On “ORF III Theme Monday” on February 26th, the new production “The Tricks with Prices” (8:15 p.m.) focuses on the widespread practice of so-called “dynamic pricing”: prices vary depending on the customer and time, making flight and train tickets more expensive in the evenings and on weekends – this trend can no longer only be observed with windy online providers. State-affiliated companies such as ÖBB or AUA also use them. ORF III presenter Johannes Schmer-Galunder examines the question of whether “dynamic pricing” is really a service to the consumer. The documentary “Organic – Still Affordable?” (9:05 p.m.) then finds out what the current inflation means for organic consumption and provides helpful consumer tips on how you can enjoy organic and healthy goods even with little purchasing power. The two ORF III productions “Expensive Fun – Eating in Crisis” (9:50 p.m.) and “Living – Soon Unaffordable?” (10:40 p.m.) examine how the climate and energy crisis is affecting Lower Austria’s viticulture, the dairy industry and the real estate market impact.
“ORF III Cultural Tuesday” with “Erbe Österreich” premiere and new edition of “erLesen”
Vienna was once the melting pot of the Austro-Hungarian multi-ethnic state: whether from Galicia, Italy, Hungary, the Czech Republic – everyone sought their happiness in Vienna. This is how neighborhoods emerged that took on the ethnic color of the respective residents. On “ORF III Cultural Tuesday”, February 27th, Patrice Fuchs presents Jewish Vienna, its residents Ringstraße Palace, in the first part of the three-part new “Erbe Österreich” production “Viennese Lifestyle: Dumplings, Goulash, Mazzes” (8:15 p.m.). built, founded depth psychology and wrote great classics of literature. In the main evening, “Heimat Österreich” will be on Wednesday, February 28th, “Around Tiefraben am Mondsee” (8:15 p.m.), where at the Tiafgroba Rossara traditional event, felled wood will be brought into the valley on sledges along the snow-covered paths – just like it is was common before the invention of the tractor. In this new “Heimat Österreich” production, Markus Fischer gives an insight into the traditional life of the region’s residents. From curling to snow hiking to making music at home – Markus Fischer shows how the locals enjoy the “quiet season” to the fullest. There will be another edition of “Country Life” about “Life in the Ennstal” (9:55 p.m.).
Health in ORF III: High blood pressure, fasting for beginners and detox myths
In a new edition of “MERYN am Montag” (6:45 p.m.), ORF health expert Siegfried Meryn and Dr. Danielle Diarra, specialist in internal medicine and nephrology, talks about the dangers that high blood pressure can pose and how these can be minimized through a healthy lifestyle and medical help. On Wednesday, February 28th, a new edition of “MERYNS sprachzimmer” (8:30 p.m.) is dedicated to fasting: In addition to the religious meaning of fasting, many people also see a number of health benefits in the centuries-old tradition. Fasting is said to renew cells, improve digestion, promote weight loss and provide holistic well-being. ORF health expert Siegfried Meryn and his guests – spa doctor and fasting expert Dr. Ulrike Göschl, nutritionist Mag.a Margit Fensl and molecular biologist Prof. Sascha Martens from the University of Vienna – investigate the question of whether fasting is actually so healthy and reveal how you can fast properly even as a beginner. “Land of the mountains” on the way in Kaprun
A new “Land of Mountains” production will be on Thursday, February 29th, “From Mooserboden to the Kitzsteinhorn” (8:15 p.m.): The massive mountain backdrop on Mooserboden, the upper reservoir of the Kaprun power plant, is popular with mountain tourists from all over the world . Very few of them know that they are in the middle of one of the largest high mountain construction sites currently, because this is where LIMBERG III, the new pumped storage power plant of one of the largest hydroelectric power plants in Europe, is being built. The documentary shows how this exciting project can be combined in harmony with nature. Afterwards, “Land of the Mountains” goes in search of superlatives in Kaprun, such as the world’s highest via ferrata, in “Reservoirs of the Alps: Kaprun” (9:05 p.m.).
“Thursday Night” begins with a brand new edition of “Tafelrunde” (9:55 p.m.): The satirical monthly review with Gerald Fleischhacker returns from the ORF RadioKulturhaus to humorously address the most important topics of the past few weeks. Guests include Gery Seidl, Lydia Prenner-Kasper, Chrissi Buchmasser and Gabriel Castañeda.
A new edition of “Cabaret in the Tower” follows at 11 p.m., this time with Gabriel Castañeda and his program “Hardi Gatti” – a fiery stage show, biting social satire and noble nonsense ensure the best entertainment. In the new production “Wiener Liedkunst: Ernst Molden and Christopher Seiler” (11:55 p.m.), numerous artists who have cultivated and enriched the genre over the past decades prove how lively the Viennese song still is.
“zeit.geschichte” evening dedicated to the ORF legends
On the occasion of actress Uschi Glas’s 80th birthday, the “zeit.geschichte” evening will be opened on Saturday, March 2nd, by the ORF III production “Uschi Glas – A Film and TV Legend” (8:15 p.m.). , in which the actress reviews the past decades of her career. “ORF Legends – Waltraut Haas” (9:05 p.m.) then traces the actress’s career between the most beautiful places in the Alpine republic and the terrible times of the Second World War. The “zeit.geschichte” documentaries “ORF Legends – Gunther Philipp” (9:55 p.m.) about the star comedian of German-Austrian post-war films, and “ORF Legends – Klausjürgen Wussow” (10:45 p.m.) about the star of the “Black Forest Clinic” round it off the focus evening.
Classic on Sunday: Franz Welser-Möst in “The Stage Experience”
“Experience Stage” presents a “backstage conversation with Barbara Rett” (8 p.m.) and the Austrian conductor Franz Welser-Möst at the Musikverein Vienna on Sunday, March 3rd. ORF III will then show a “Philharmonic Concert with Franz Welser-Möst” (8:30 p.m.) and the Vienna Philharmonic from the Golden Hall of the Musikverein. You can hear Paul Hindemith’s concert music for wind orchestra, Richard Strauss’ “Symphonic Fantasy” from “The Woman Without a Shadow” and Maurice Ravel’s “La Valse”.
