ORF III talk “To the point” on January 19th about panic, depression, suicidal thoughts

Reiner Reitsamer welcomes experts from the field of health to the discussion

Vienna (OTS) “What is troubling us so much?” “To the Matter” (8:15 p.m.) will explore this question on Friday, January 19, 2024, at 8:15 p.m. on ORF III.

Alarming numbers: In a recent study, 27 percent of students surveyed said they had had suicidal thoughts several times in the past two weeks. Suicide is the second leading cause of death in the adolescent and young adult age group. In total, around 730,000 people in Austria suffer from depression – not least due to the after-effects of the corona pandemic and ongoing inflation. Women are twice as likely to suffer from depression as men. Why are more and more young people having suicidal thoughts? How can this be prevented? And how overwhelmed is our society? Reiner Reitsamer discusses this with ORF gymnast Philipp Jelinek (“Fit with Philipp”), Ali Mahlodji (EU Youth Ambassador), Caroline Culen (Managing Director of the Austrian Children’s League), Alexander Grabenhofer-Eggerth (Health Austria) and Tanja Reiter (management consultant and business manager). coach).
