ORF III program manager Peter Schöber on the broadcast of the memorial hour for Richard Lugner

In memory of Richard Lugner, the ORF has already changed its programs in the past few days and reached numerous people throughout Austria with, among other things, a previously unpublished interview, a “Seitenblicke Spezial” and current reports in news programs and magazines. Numerous interested parties were also able to follow today’s (August 31, 2024) live broadcast of the memorial hour from St. Stephen’s Cathedral in Vienna, in which the ORF acted as host broadcaster and made the signal available to other television stations.

ORF III program manager Peter Schöber: “In collaboration with the family and St. Stephen’s Cathedral in Vienna, ORF III, as host broadcaster, was able to ensure a reverent live broadcast of the Requiem from St. Stephen’s Cathedral and, by passing it on to other broadcasters free of charge, also to many people Give the opportunity to say goodbye to the personality of Richard Lugner. The live broadcast was embedded in a comprehensive program of documentaries and interviews in which ORF III dealt with Richard Lugner’s life.
