General Director Weißmann informed about the successful start of ORF-ON and positive TV-MA development
Vienna (OTS) – In its plenary meeting on Thursday, June 13, 2024, chaired by Mag. Lothar Lockl, the ORF Board of Trustees approved the ORF 2023 annual and consolidated financial statements presented by ORF General Director Mag. Roland Weißmann with a large majority. Both ORF and the ORF Group report positive results. The ORF General Director also provided information, among other things, about the successful launch of the new ORF streaming platform ORF ON and the positive market share development of the ORF TV fleet.
ORF General Director Roland Weißmann: “The ORF is in a very good position both economically and programmatically. Thanks to additional targeted savings measures during the year, the ORF was able to end 2023 on a positive note despite the difficult economic conditions. Our new streaming platform ORF ON has launched successfully and the market shares of the ORF TV channels are developing very well despite increasing competition. The ORF is therefore well prepared for the challenges ahead and will do everything it can to achieve its strategic goal of becoming an ORF for all Austrians!”
Heavy use of ORF offerings
ORF ON, ORF’s new streaming platform, launched on the web in January and successfully began full operation on all platforms in May. The overall net views of the ORF streaming offerings increased by 35 percent to 14.2 million net views (period 1-4 2023 vs. 1-4 2024). The ORF TV fleet is the clear Austrian market leader with an increasing market share of 35.5 percent (period 1-4 2024), as is the ORF radio fleet.
