Vienna (OTS) – “What kind of world is this?” many people ask themselves when they hear from die-hard football fans. It smokes, it burns and many things are so different than in “normal society”. With the football fan documentary “Football, Fans, Rivalries – We are the curve”, ORF TOPOS, together with ORF ON, ORF 1 and ORF III, offers unusual insights into the world of football fans. Rivalries have a long tradition in a city like Vienna – and sometimes the traditions run across families. This was also evident at the presentation of the film on May 28, 2024 at Brick-15, which was attended by ORF General Director Roland Weißmann and designer Gerald Heidegger, as well as Rapid Vice President Edeltraud Hanappi-Egger and the film’s main character Lelo Brossmann, filmmaker Marlene Mayer, ex-footballer Wolfgang Mair, the historians Georg Spitaler and Oliver Rathkolb and “Ballesterer” editor-in-chief Jakob Rosenberg went into the “fan curve”.
In the film, Lelo Brossmann from the band Kreisky travels through the country’s football fan culture as a Vienna fan and opens up new perspectives on the world of stadium curves – without judgment. Also present: author Marlene Streeruwitz, ex-kicker Wolfgang Mair, historians Georg Spitaler and Ulrich van Loyen, “Ballesterer” editor-in-chief Jakob Rosenberg, football fans Matthias and Friedrich Papsch and filmmaker Marlene Mayer. Kreisky provides the soundtrack (details available at presse.ORF.at).
“Football, fans, rivalries – we are the curve” tells the world of fan cultures in four chapters, which is held together by Lelo’s journey to the fans.
Chapter 1: “Fathers and Sons and Clubs”
Chapter 2: “Italy, the Street and the Ultras”
Chapter 3: “The Footballer and the Fans”
Chapter 4: “The Curves, World and Counterworld”
“Football, fans, rivalries – we are the curve” is a production by ORF Online and Teletext GmbH & Co KG and produced by RAUM.FILM Filmproduktion.
