ORF co-financed science fiction from Austria: ORF 1 premiere for “Rubikon” on July 18th

Vienna (OTS) – Science fiction made in Austria can be seen on Thursday, July 18, 2024, at 10:40 p.m. in an ORF 1 premiere – and on ORF ON – when Julia Franz Richter, George Blagden and Mark Ivanir meet on the space station “Rubikon” have to ask the question whether they are the only survivors of a catastrophe on earth. The situation is complicated by personal problems within the crew. The film, co-financed by ORF as part of the film/television agreement, was directed by Magdalena Lauritsch, who, together with Jessica Lind, was also responsible for the script.

The young corporate soldier Hannah (Julia Franz Richter) and her two colleagues Gavin (George Blagden) and Dimitri (Mark Ivanir) have to watch on the now privatized ISS space station as the earth sinks into a meteorological natural disaster. All contact with any survivors is lost. What happened? Are they the last survivors of humanity? Their attempt to find a way to deal with this unique situation is complicated by increasingly intense conflicts. A moral dilemma causes three different worldviews to collide.
