To mark the death of Josef Taus, the ORF is changing its program and will show the documentary “Josef Taus – One man against Kreisky”. This was only created last year on the occasion of Taus’ 90th birthday.
Josef Taus shaped the late 1970s as ÖVP federal party chairman and in particular through his attempts in two National Council elections to dethrone SPÖ Chancellor Bruno Kreisky. Many in Austria still remember the legendary Kreisky-Tau TV duels – they were the beginnings of a professionalized television election campaign in which the red incumbent cut a better figure. For Josef Taus’ 90th birthday in 2023, Gerhard Jelinek and Ernst Johann Schwarz created a portrait of the economic politician, who, in addition to his political functions, also served as chairman of the ÖIAG supervisory board, as head of the Giro and on the board of the Turnauer Group. In the ORF III production, former political companions such as Hannes Androsch, who died just a few days ago, Karl Blecha, Andreas Khol, Taus’ former head of cabinet Gottfried Marckhgott, the journalist Anneliese Rohrer and daughter Renate Waldhäusl-Taus and those from the closest family circle speak Son-in-law Martin Waldhäusl.
ORF III will show the documentary on Tuesday, December 17th at 10:45 p.m. In addition, the ORF will report today, December 14th, in its current programs.
