LH Mikl-Leitner: New era for Lower Austria

St.Pölten (OTS) Governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner spoke of a day of joy for Lower Austria and a special and extraordinary project that ushers in a new era in Lower Austria on Wednesday at the opening of the Philoro goldworks in the Korneuburg business park: “Gold is being produced in Lower Austria for the first time. This is also a courage injection for other companies in particularly challenging times and represents the business-friendly climate in our country. Philoro is the best example of how Lower Austria is the first service provider for the economy and a good business location that provides excellent support for company settlements with ecoplus. “From January to November this year, 81 new companies have settled or expanded their location in Lower Austria.”

In addition to the 60 million euros invested here for high-tech gold production of up to 120 tons per year and the up to 300 jobs, the state governor also mentioned two important reasons. On the one hand, the gold obtained is also a benefit for local companies because components for the local industry are also obtained here. “On the other hand, the new refinery is the oldest form of circular economy. With this lighthouse project far beyond the borders of Korneuburg, Lower Austria is once again at the forefront when it comes to the circular economy,” concluded Mikl-Leitner.

Korneuburg’s mayor Christian Gepp spoke of a special day: “This top player and ‘Gold Made in Korneuburg’ make us even better known.” He is particularly pleased about the commitment to sustainability of a company of this size.

Managing director Rudolf Brenner recalled the founding of the company and the first branch in Vienna in 2011. There are now 17 branches in Germany, Switzerland, Austria and Liechtenstein as well as online trading. “On the 35,000 square meters here in Korneuburg, we have broken new ground and written a new chapter in our history. Now we are not only a dealer, but also a producer.” A total of 100 new jobs would be created, including headquarters and logistics there would be 300.

The second managing director, René Brückler, emphasized the excellent cooperation with the state of Lower Austria and the city of Korneuburg as well as the importance of bringing part of the value chain to Austria, and when it came to sustainability, he highlighted, among other things, a large-scale photovoltaic system and a closed water cycle . “In addition to up to 120 tons of gold and up to 140 tons of silver, we can also melt and process platinum and paladium here. The production process has been running since September, from recycling to 100 percent recycled bars made in Korneuburg,” said Brückler.
