State police chief Dr. Gerhard Pürstl opened in the presence of Federal Minister of the Interior Mag. Gerhard Karner and Mayor of Vienna Dr. Michael Ludwig opened the new information store of the Vienna State Police Department.
The Vienna Police Music provided the musical accompaniment.
Thanks to the support of the Association of Friends of the Vienna Police, it is possible to open this information store in downtown Vienna and thus inspire new applicants for the police profession.
The aim is to give visitors an insight into the exciting job profiles, career and further development opportunities at the Vienna Police as well as information on applications and training.
Changing thematic focuses are set every month. Various departments, including WEGA and the Vienna police dog unit, will provide information about their activities on site.
Furthermore, visitors can expect an exciting and interactive experience. Using VR glasses, for example, it is possible to take part in a virtual motorcycle ride. Equipment and uniform parts are also presented.
Testing law enforcement equipment (helmet and shield) is like spraying with a practice pepper spray to provide a realistic experience.
The Info Store serves as an advice center for people interested in the wide range of opportunities within the Vienna State Police Directorate and is an addition to the recruiting center in the 2nd district, Exhibition Street 44. Around 170 events have been organized by the Vienna State Police Directorate’s recruiting team since it opened Carried out in October 2022.
Especially since the admission dates in autumn 2023 (September and December), the number of admissions has more than doubled compared to the previous year. While 140 police students were accepted in autumn 2022, there were already more than 320 in autumn 2023.
“Nowadays, due to the shortage of skilled workers, it is particularly important to use modern means to emphasize the attractiveness of the police profession. “With the opening of the highly visible information store on the busy Ringstrasse, we have succeeded in setting another milestone in the Vienna police’s admissions offensive,” says Pürstl.
Mayor Ludwig said at the opening: “Vienna is one of the safest cities in the world. The close and good cooperation between the city of Vienna and the Vienna police is a guarantee for the safety of the people of Vienna, for which I would particularly like to thank Police Chief Pürstl. The new information store will make an important contribution to inspiring even more people to become police officers and is therefore a real enrichment for Vienna.”
“The Vienna State Police Directorate did an excellent job last year in recruiting young police officers. The Infostore is another important contribution to the personnel offensive,” says Gerhard Karner.

Monday to Friday: 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m
Saturday: 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m
