After being founded in Vienna and expanding to Graz, the online supermarket Alfies now delivers to 600,000 Zurich residents within 60 minutes.
Vienna/Graz/Zurich (OTS) – The online supermarket Alfies now also delivers in Zurich, the largest city in Switzerland. After being founded in Vienna in 2015 by three people from Salzburg and expanding to Graz in 2021, ordering food, drinks and drugstore goods with delivery within 60 minutes is now available to 600,000 Zurich residents.

Like alfies.at, alfies.ch offers a full range of food, drinks and drugstore goods at supermarket prices. This also contains regional and international specialties: In Switzerland you can order the “Champs Elysée” croissant, a butter croissant with over 25% Appenzeller mountain butter or the brewery specialty “Turbinenbräu Sprint” from the city of Zurich. Alfies also scores points in Zurich with a delivery time of 60 minutes. Alternatively, customers can choose a delivery time of 120 minutes or an individual delivery time from Monday to Saturday between 8 a.m. and 10 p.m. The delivery area covers the entire city of Zurich and the surrounding area as well as parts of Aargau, the canton west of Zurich. Around 600,000 residents can shop at Alfies.

“, explains Michl. “The Zurich metropolitan area also scores points with good economic development and high purchasing power. We therefore expect that Alfies will be well received and that we will reach many people in Zurich.
The Austrian headquarters is supported by its own Swiss company, Alfies E-Commerce AG, with managing director Peter Rohn.
From Salzburg to Vienna and Graz
Alfies was founded by Gunther Michl, his brother Gerald Michl and their school friend Thomas Ecker, who grew up in Salzburg. Actually outside the industry, but with a fresh look at the potential of delivery services, they founded Alfies in 2015. They initially had around 30 products in their range, which at the time only included drinks and snacks. The three sold them out of a VW bus that served as a mobile warehouse.
The then start-up Alfies and its range, which today includes almost 5,000 products, grew continuously. The expansion to Graz followed in 2021. “Further expansion cannot be ruled out,” says Gunther Michl, looking to the future. “Our mission to make everyday life easier for people works everywhere.”
